"Star Wars: Han Solo" Movie Updates

Take a look @ young 'Han Solo' (Alden Ehrenreich) from Chris Miller and Phil Lord's currently shooting feature "Star Wars: Han Solo" (aka "Red Cup") following 'Solo'  in his early years as a 'space smuggler', co-starring Emilia Clarke ("Game Of Thrones"), opening May 25, 2018:

The events of the new film are set between "Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith" (2005)...

...and "Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope" (1977).

"...'Han Solo' was a cadet in the 'Empire' stationed in a forced labor camp where 'Wookiees' were made to do slave labor for the Empire. It wasn't long before Han developed disgust for the Empire's treatment of the Wookiee people, and his friendship with the Wookiee slave 'Chewbacca' led to Han helping in a prison break. Han and Chewbacca became partners, and the two took smuggling jobs from various people, reputable and otherwise..."

"This was the hardest casting challenge of all time," said Miller about hiring Ehrenreich to play a younger version of Harrison Ford.

"It's the biggest boots to fill - trying to get someone who can capture all of those essences you think of as 'Han'. We did a very, very, very exhaustive search.

"We saw over 3,000 people for the part, all across the world.

"We cast it through five or six different offices, acting schools across America and the UK, cowboy bars, everything you can imagine.

"We made sure we turned over every rock to find someone who has the charisma and the maverick swagger and the sweetness.

"Turns out that was a total waste of money because the person who got the part was the first person to audition, literally the first person to walk in the door..."
