Black is familiar with the source material, as he appeared in the first "Predator" movie (1987) as an actor.
"Black said his 'intimate' monster horror feature is set in the present day, acknowledging the events of both 'Predator' and fan-favorite 'Predator 2" (1997).
"The Predator", co-written by Fred Dekker, is the fourth installment in the "Predator" movie franchise, following "Predator" (1987), "Predator 2" (1990), and "Predators" (2010).
Cast includes Boyd Holbrook, Olivia Munn, Trevante Rhodes, Keegan-Michael Key, Sterling K. Brown, Jacob Tremblay and Thomas Jane.
The new film is set to be released August 3, 2018, by 20th Century Fox in IMAX.
