In other "Star Trek: Discovery" news, "Desperate Hours", the prequel novel by author David Mack, flashes back to 'Lieutenant Michael Burnham', a human woman raised and educated by 'Vulcans', as she is promoted to first officer of the 'Starship Shenzhou':
