Take a look at more new footage from director James Wan's undersea adventure "Aquaman" opening December 21, 2018, with 'Arthur Curry' (Jason Momoa), 'Mera' (Amber Heard) and 'Black Manta' (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II):
The sixth installment in the 'DC Extended Universe', screenplay of "Aquaman" is by Will Beall...
...from a story by Wan and Geoff Johns, showcasing the title character for the third time...
...following "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" (2016) and "Justice League" (2017).
"...'Arthur Curry', heir to the underwater kingdom of 'Atlantis', must step forward to lead his people and to be a hero to the world..."
"Justice League was only a weekend in Arthur Curry’s life," said Jason Momoa, who plays 'Arthur Curry', for the third time in 'Aquaman'.
"This is a totally different beast. In 'Aquaman', you see when his parents met and what happened to them.
"Then the little boy being raised and finding his powers and going through that and never being accepted on either side. And then becoming this man who puts up all these walls.
"You just slowly see this man harden up and be completely reluctant wanting to be king and not knowing what to do with these powers he has..."
"Aquaman has been the joke of the comic book world," said Wan, "but the more I thought about it, the more I thought how cool that would be.
"Let’s take the character everybody makes fun of and do something really interesting with him."
Oscar winner Nicole Kidman plays 'Queen Atlanna', the mother of 'Aquaman'.
"In her first origin stories she left 'Atlantis' to travel abroad, but was almost killed in a raging hurricane. Her unconscious body was found by 'Tom Curry', an ex-sailor, now lonely lighthouse keeper.
"Tom nursed her back to health, then made love with the princess, until they had a son 'Arthur Curry'.
"She kept her Royal Atlantean origins secret, until on her deathbed, she confessed the truth about her life to Tom and young Arthur..."
