Marvel Comics' high-flying 'Falcon' and brain-washed killer 'The Winter Soldier' are teaming up for a new limited, live-action TV series, produced by Marvel Studios' Kevin Feige, for Disney's upcoming streaming service:
Malcolm Spellman ("Empire") will script the new "Falcon"/"Winter Soldier" series, to be produced by Feige, rather than Marvel TV which has had numerous cancellations including "Inhumans", "Agent Carter", "Iron Fist", "Luke Cage" and the struggling "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.".
After overseeing one blockbuster feature after another, Feige has proven he understands the connection between the expectations of Marvel Comics' fans and the accurate realization of their heroes up on screen.
As well as the developing "Loki and Scarlet Witch" series starring Tom Hiddleston and Elizabeth Olsen, Disney streaming projects are expected to range from six to eight episodes, with larger budgets than regular series.
'Sam Wilson' aka 'Falcon' created by writer-editor Stan Lee and illustrator Gene Colan, debuted in Marvel Comics' "Captain America" #117 (Sept. 1969), using mechanical wings to fly, with a limited telepathic and empathic control over birds.
Actor Anthony Mackie portrayed Falcon in the 2014 Marvel Studios films, "Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014) and in "Avengers: Age of Ultron" (2015), "Ant-Man" (2015)...
..."Captain America: Civil War" (2016), "Avengers: Infinity War" (2018) and the upcoming "Avengers 4" (2019).
'James "Bucky" Barnes' aka 'The Winter Soldier', was created by writer Joe Simon and illustrator Jack Kirby debuting in "Captain America Comics" #1 (March 1941)...
