"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" Starts Shooting


Marvel Studios reports that principal photography has started @ Pinewood Studios, Atlanta, Georgia, on the feature sequel, "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2", scheduled to open May 5, 2017:


"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" is written and directed by James Gunn, starring Chris Pratt as 'Peter Quill'/'Star-Lord', Zoe Saldana as 'Gamora', Dave Bautista as 'Drax', Vin Diesel as the voice of 'Groot', Bradley Cooper as the voice of 'Rocket'...


...Michael Rooker as 'Yondu', Karen Gillan as 'Nebula' and Sean Gunn as 'Kraglin'. New cast members include Pom Klementieff, Chris Sullivan and Kurt Russell.


"...set to the all-new sonic backdrop of 'Awesome Mixtape #2', 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2' continues the team's adventures as they unravel the mystery of Peter Quill's true parentage..."


The new film is produced by Marvel Studios' president Kevin Feige, with Louis D'Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Jonathan Schwartz, Nik Korda and Stan Lee serving as executive producers.


According to Box Office Mojo, the original "Guardians of the Galaxy", released in 2014, earned box office receipts of $333,176,600 (domestic) and $440,135,799 (foreign) for a worldwide total of $773,312,399, holding the record as the most successful debut film in the 'Marvel Cinematic Universe'. 


In addition, the film's soundtrack went platinum and was nominated for a 'Grammy'.
